"Novus Ludio" means 'new player' in Latin...This site is intended to bring to light some tips on learning the guitar for beginners.

My son and I have been taking lessons since June 2005 with an excellent sensei/teacher (Jay Smith) at our local Brook Mays Music Center in Lewisville, Tx. These are some tips that I have found that might be helpful in learning the guitar.

I will first introduce some basic music theory, hopefully this will give some rudimentary knowledge on the underlying theory for music. Next, I figured knowing the parts of the guitar would be helpful. Then some tips on getting started with the quitar on a simple melody. Finally, we will put these tips all together.
